An internationally recognized curriculum called Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) gives people the tools they need to detect, comprehend, and handle mental health emergencies and problems. With India contributing to 15% of the global mental health burden, MHFA offers a critical early intervention strategy that supports timely recognition and response to mental health challenges. This paper explores MHFA‘s evolution, implementation, and impact within the Indian context. A qualitative review was conducted using literature, program data, and a real-life case study from a Puducherry school. Results showed MHFA training significantly improved help-seeking behavior, enhanced early identification, and reduced stigma and classroom distress. Digital access, cultural adjustments, and integration into educational and professional systems have increased MHFA's scalability and inclusivity. The Puducherry case recorded a 40% rise in student support interactions and highlighted the potential of peer-led initiatives. MHFA‘s success in India illustrates its capacity to foster psychological well-being, especially among youth and underserved groups. Broader adoption supported by policy and public-private collaboration could strengthen India‘s mental health infrastructure.
